Some controllers requires you to activate them first before starting the game, like wireless controllers or blue-thooth controllers. Obs: Controllers only work if you plug them in before starting the game. You can also bind the keys directly in the game in the keybinding settings panel if you want to set it up yourself. In the game you must then select the correct controller input for the specific player. If you want if to work for player 2 simply replace the beginning KB_ with K2B_. Here is our recommended controls for XBox 360 Controllers The default values should work just fine if you emulate the PS4 controller as a XBox 360 Controller. Here is our recommended controls for PS4 DualShock Controllers (you can edit the values in the config.ini file in your documents/Superfighters Deluxe/config.ini). If you have a PS4 DualShock controller laying around simply plug it into your PC using a microUSB cable and it will work while you have Steam running. Depending on your controller it might work better with the Steam's Configuration Support or better without it. You can enable/disable this per-game basis in Steam. To use a controller in Superfighters Deluxe you can use Steam's Configuration Support for controllers (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Generic) or leave it - both settings work. Other controllers can be used in v.1.0.1. The devs made it pay-to-play because they put a lot of effort into the title and the posters crying about the "free" version going paid will never truly appreciate the fact.SFD is built upon XNA which natively supports XBox 360 controllers. My opinion isn't worth more than the other posters but the game is very dear to my heart and I am able to see its competitive potential. I wrote a (very long!) post about all the new additions in Superfighters Deluxe here. I have played Versus mode against Bot opponents almost exclusively after I received the game on this platform and have not gotten bored after ~100 hours of playtime. If you don't find real players, bots are always the way to go. All it takes is a couple of friends, if not just one, to have a jolly good time playing against eachother. The bots are as capable as they were in the previous game, if not more so I agree with the other posters saying multiplayer mode is a bit empty currently, but I am sure you will not be disappointed once you find one regular server to play on or even manage to host your own (many people do). There are 3 short campaigns, 3 sets of about 10 challenges of varying difficulty, a map editor and a built-in script editor to occupy you while you're not playing. There are many new Survival and Versus maps old ones can be downloaded from the SFDMaps archive and played through the new game on Steam. Generally, SFD allowed far greater control over your character and has given players more tools to deal with various situations accordingly. SFD introduced a new control scheme which, as opposed to SF, allowed you to kick and punch seperately, aim and shoot seperately, pick up weapons properly and more. The inventory and item-dropping systems have been optimized too. The melee and movement systems have been optimized and given a few new moves to allow you to counter and out-maneuver your opponents with greater ease. Then, I felt few of the most important additions to the game ( other than online multiplayer!) were the new weapons and items. That was the first deciding factor for me the 30 FPS limit of the Flash engine is a no-go for me. SFD is built on a new engine that is optimized to run better than its Flash game predecessor. I bought a few copies for my friends to play at their leisure because I like the game very much and want other people to try it too. The gameplay loop, although not very rewarding in itself, is very satisfying to experience and later on master. If you were into the insane Hollywoodian action that is diving out of windows and shooting full-auto at explosive barrels from behind unstable cover back then, I'd say try Superfighters Deluxe now. I'd be willing to spend money on a successor to the classic Flash Superfighters any day any way. With that said, if you were to ask me whether I actually like the game after all these years, I would definitely say yes. I received a free copy from the devs and moderate the community forum, plus another website that revolves around custom-made SFD content (mentioned later in this post) I am highly biased and you should take my words with a very large grain of salt. I have also been playing the game for around 5 years and have played the original Newgrounds version thoughout my early teen years.
